Supervisor, Fish Processing Plant

If you have experience in filleting groundfish and haven’t had the opportunity to move up into a hands-on supervisory role then we may have the opportunity you are looking for.

We are looking for 2 Production Supervisors to run our groundfish filleting line.  The production supervisor for groundfish will work with our staff to efficiently operate the groundfish line and to build a great culture on the floor.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Supervise, co-ordinate and create work schedule for production staff.
  • Monitoring of production materials and supplies.
  • Establish methods to organize and plan production accordingly for multiple orders and customers.
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures for continuous improvement in productivity and product quality.
  • Provide training and coaching to production staff regarding different job duties, use of equipment or tools, safety procedures and company policy.
  • Provide recommendation on personnel actions such as hiring’s and promotions.
  • Prepare production reports to ensure recoveries meet standards. Reviewing daily production reports to ensure production meets quality and production targets as defined by the Company.
  • Identify, evaluate, control and prevent hazards at all stages of the production process. Ensuring that HACCP, GMP and QA standards for food regulations are met.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong leadership, Interpersonal and Communication skills both verbal and written with a proven ability to communicate in an ESL work environment
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to supervise 40-50 people.
  • Experience with production line set-up.

Employment Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School is required. University Education will be an asset.
  • 3 or more years of experience in fish cutting and minimum one-year Supervisory experience.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced environment
  • Physically demanding
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Working in cooler temperature, wet and moist.
  • Requires flexibility on work time to meet tight deadlines

Total Compensation:

Salary: Minimum $27.00 per hour (Potential Piece work bonus available)

Job Type:

Full Time, Permanent year around. (Min 32 hours weekly Guaranteed)


Production Workers

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Working on the production line.
  • Sorting fish.
  • Washing baskets.
  • Labeling boxes.
  • Racking fish.
  • De-racking fish.
  • Lifting up to 25-50 pounds.
  • Washing fish.
  • Packing fish.
  • General cleanup etc.

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently, and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be in good health, physically able to perform repetitive tasks, lift, squat, bend, stand and walk as required to perform the duties of the position.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to efficiently multi-task.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

  • We pay a $0.50 cent Night Shift Premium and a $0.75 cent Heavy Lifting Premium.

Forklift Driver 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Complete pre-shift forklift sheets.
  • Efficiently and accurately load and unload trailers, trucks & containers – fresh and frozen product.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing product.
  • Accurately complete TDU inspections.
  • Put product away.
  • Freezer Management.
  • Load racks.
  • Accurately write tote tags.
  • Be able to lift 30-50 lbs.
  • Have knowledge of FIFO (First In, First Out) procedure.

Qualifications:

  • Have a valid Forklift certification.
  • Have counterbalance forklift driving experience.

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to efficiently multi-task.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Be an analytical problem solver with an ability to think quickly and perform problem-solving tasks, even within changing conditions.
